A Peridynamic Differential Operator-Based Model for Quantifying Spatial Non-Local Transport Behavior of Pollutants in Heterogeneous Media

Modeling pollutant transport in heterogeneous media is an important task of hydrology. Pollutant a non-homogeneous environment typically exhibits non-local dynamics, whose efficient characterization requires parsimonious model with the feature. This study encapsulates characteristic pollutants into peridynamic differential operator (PDDO) and develops PDDO-based for quantifying observed behavior. The simulation results show that proposed can describe behavior various media. nature be adjusted by pre-defined weight function w(|ξ|) horizon Hx. Applications better capture than classical advection–diffusion equation (ADE) model, especially tail experimental data late. Analyses further reveal characterize both normal (Fickian) anomalous (Lévy) diffusion regimes.
